My Favourite Things

Meetings with biscuits, a jargon translator,
Green coloured boxes in RAISEonline data,
Sources of funding that come with no strings
These are a few of our favourite things

Tables to lean on and adult height seating
Reports from the head in advance of the meeting
Governors who don’t always stay in the wings
These are a few of our favourite things

Focussed agendas and sub-three-hour meetings
UKGovChat’ting and #schoolgoverning tweetings
Clerks who can minute the challenge one brings
These are a few of our favourite things

When it’s midday –
And the phone rings
And the head looks sad
We simply remember our favourite things
And then we don’t feel so bad.

My Favourite Things by Maria

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favourite things

Cream coloured ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favourite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favourite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favourite things
And then I don’t feel so bad
